HOW TO BOOST YOUR BLOG TRAFFIC WITH PINTEREST

Pinterest,

A while back, I wrote about tips on using Pinterest effectively which was beginner friendly and really easy to follow. Today I’m back with another Pinterest post to help you out, you see, I used Pinterest way back before I even started blogging but all my boards were all over the place, which made it irrelevant since all they showcased were a mixture of stuff which one could deem more like a confused group of boards. It was until I started my blog that I found out you could actually use it to drive traffic to your blog. Now if you read my other post here, then you have already created an account and your boards and are ready to now move to the next step. Here is how to boost your blog traffic with pinterest.

HOW TO BOOST YOUR BLOG TRAFFIC WITH PINTEREST

1.  CONVERT TO A BUSINESS ACCOUNT

I am sure you’ve already heard of this and yes it is really beneficial for you to change your account to a business one. If your Pinterest account is not for a blog or a business and just for personal use, then you really don’t need to be looking at analytics but if not, then go ahead and convert it. Once you do that you get access to analytics which helps you to learn more about your audience and what they like and where they are from thus helping you to know what content to create and also what to pin which will bring in more readers to you. To convert your account to a business one, follow the steps here.

2. CREATE YOUR BLOG BOARD

Once you have your business account, then you should create a board specifically for your content only, that is if you have a blog then have a board for your posts and then you can add other boards within and around your niche. If you have boards that are far from what you write about or away from your niche, then just put them to be private not to confuse your readers. Also if you read my beginner friendly post, you already know how to create an awesome profile and so your boards should also have clear names to what content can be found there.

3. VERIFY YOUR SITE

Another step that will help with your traffic is make sure to verify your site in Pinterest, rather claim it. You can find how to do that in the settings section on the far top right. Doing this opens you up to website analytics and also the featured logos where your profile picture can be added to all your pins. This helps readers to know whose pin it is from and can click on your site if interested, that’s why your profile needs to be inviting.

4. APPLY FOR RICH PINS

Next thing is to apply for rich pins, rich pins add more information directly on the pin which makes it even more enticing and welcoming for it to be clicked and land straight to your site. Clicks is what we are after here which will be boosting traffic to your site, if you haven’t done that yet, you can apply for them here.

5.  JOIN GROUPS & TRIBES

Since we are trying to boost traffic to your blog, another strategy is by using Pinterest groups and tailwind tribes. Now I do know that it can be difficult to get groups to join in Pinterest and also the tribes. One thing you can do is to ask in other platforms and also email the admin of the group or tribe and ask if they can be able to invite you. I have done this before and got great responses from some and never got anything back from others so don’t be disheartened, just keep going. Find here some groups you can check out and ask to join and for some tribes, check some out here. Before I continue, if you haven’t joined tailwind yet do so here and start your free month trial.

6. VERTICAL PINS

We all know just like Instagram, Pinterest is also all about visuals and funny enough, vertical pins seem to be the norm and really do well too. So do yourself a favour and avoid my mistake where I took that for granted which really ended up costing me loads of traffic in the beginning. You can use Picmonkey or Canva and create beautiful vertical pins with eye catching titles to entice the reader to click through to your site. So remember that vertical long pins are key when it comes to boosting traffic with Pinterest.

7. USE KEYWORDS

As I said above, using eye catching titles are the way to go and to make it even better, try and incorporate keywords that are mostly suited to whatever you are writing about. The use of keywords does help you when it comes to SEO and raises your chances of having your pin or post clicked first hence increasing traffic to your blog.

8. DON’T FORGET DESCRIPTIONS

You have no idea how many times I have tried to pin something only for it to be denied due to lacking a description. I mean I could come up with something to write on it but it never is the same as the owner of the pin describing exactly what their pin is all about and making you want to visit their site. So, when you have created your pins, don’t forget to write an inviting description about what it’s about and any extra info you would like someone to know in order for that click to happen. Funny how just a click makes a difference but it really does in the long run, more on promoting blog posts here.

9. PIN ACCORDING TO YOUR NICHE

Another strategy is making sure that whatever you are pinning is according to your niche and not confusing your readers what you are all about, as I said before if it’s a hobby board, do put it on private mode and leave the most relevant ones that are in your niche. Also remember that if you are in groups or tribes, don’t go spamming them with all your posts at once, know how to space them out and which group to pin what to, sometimes it can be overwhelming if you’re in too many groups and have not read the groups rules on what is allowed or not. So stick to what you write about.

10. MAKE YOUR SITE PINTEREST FRIENDLY

Last but not least, you cannot be able to boost traffic to your blog if your site is not Pinterest friendly. That is the mistake most bloggers tend to make so make it possible for anyone to be able to share some of your content to Pinterest and to not have to struggle finding a pin it button. If you have problems doing this, there are many plugins that you can easily install and make it ready to go.

That’s it everyone, those are some of the tips I have on how to boost your blog traffic with Pinterest. If you have any other tips please do share, I would love to learn even more and continue working on Pinterest. Also, do tell me if there are any other topics you would like to read more of and if I know any of them in detail, then I will happily share with you. Once again thank you for all the support and do have a lovely week. So, what you doing this week to up your blogging game?
