Hey there,

So baby boy is almost 4 months old and oh my has it been a journey. I never thought sleep deprivation would feel normal. Anyway I know it will change as he gets older but I sure wish it would happen sooner. The past few months have been quite adventurous to say the least. I’ve had ups and downs, the loudest house on the block, no longer have anything to wear due to spit ups, more poopy diapers than I can count and let’s just say I have accepted that my hair literally stays unkempt for as long as I wish and nobody should and can tell me nothing. I know it’s been a while and after hearing it’s all about the swaddle and that they deliver better and longer sleeps, here is what I think about some I’ve used.

Before that, here’s an update and sleep shenanigans,

Now as I said in my previous baby post, not all children are alike and my boys have totally shown me that, when it comes to sleep, my first born only slept on his tummy and never wanted any other position and yes I do know that it is dangerous due to SIDS but there was nothing I could do and that’s the only way he could fall sleep. Also I never had to think of swaddling or whether or not I had to breastfeed him since I had no milk and he had a milk allergy from four weeks. Swaddling was foreign to me and as a first time mum then, let’s just say I was kinda winging it and hoping for the best. This time with my second son, I was feeling like I am the O.G and nothing could defeat me, well I was wrong, ABSOLUTELY WRONG.

This one changed everything, I have tried five kinds of swaddles, googled bedtime and nap schedules day in day out and thank God there’s no allergy. All I do now is walk around like a milk dispenser with a tiny human being screaming whenever he needs a top up, also the one bottle a day has disappeared since he now knows that breast is best, REALLY? Anyway, here are some of the swaddles I have used and what I think about them.

1. LICTIN 5PCS SWADDLE BLANKETS

These are the first blankets I bought and I loved their size compared to other blankets which end up being not big enough. I used this from the beginning but not for swaddling but just as a cover up and now I am back to using them for swaddling, more on that later. If your on the look out for large lightweight swaddling blankets, then do give these a try.

2. JUICY BUMBLES BABY SWADDLE WRAPS

When I got these swaddles, I thought I had found the solution to my sleep deprivation but that only lasted a week. The problem these have is the stretchy material, if your baby is not too active, then these are the ones for you but when it comes to kicking, these totally don’t stay put and always open up after a few kicks. I have also tried using the super swaddling technique with these but only lasted a few hours before his legs had kicked everything out. So these are okay but only for a calmer baby.

3. LOVE TO DREAM SWADDLE UP, GREY ORIGINAL

Now this swaddle was quite unique to me, it’s cute since you would think your baby is doing a happy dance in it. Unfortunately, this only worked for two nights and then a major tantrum of feeling claustrophobic happened. It’s okay, just not the right one for me.

Lastly, the summer infant swaddle was probably one of my best, it did as it said and made him sleep for 5 hours straight, the size ended up running small and couldn’t hold him any longer without feeling uncomfortable. So what am I doing now?

You can clearly notice that I am no longer using three of the above swaddles except as I said for the swaddle blankets, I am using those but only to swaddle with feet out by doing the houdini baby swaddle. So if you have any tips or ideas on how to fix that, I would love to hear them PLEASE.

  3. Hey Joan! Your boys are SO cute!!! As are those swaddle wraps. I loved using those for my two too! They really helped them feel secure and fall asleep faster. Plus the fact that they look just precious all bundled up like that!

    Mine are 6&8 now and I so miss those sleepless days. Not the sleepless part but the LITTLE part. Wish someone would invent time machines so we can hop back and enjoy those days when we were too tired to! Right???

  8. OMG, the 3rd one is so cute!! Put a big smile on my face. Lol.
    I don’t have kids, but I basically raised my younger brother and he loved being swaddled (did not know this word before this post! Ha!). These would have come in handy, back in the day!

  9. The print in swaddle blankets look super cute! I like how these are lightweight as it is good for tropical countries, where I stay. However, the grey original swaddle look pretty adorable. I would love seeing baby happy dance in it.

  10. I really love looking at these swaddles. But I never got to experience using them. When my kids are younger, it seems they were not very common around my city so I never got to buy them. They would have been very useful. đŸ˜€

  17. Haha I swaddle babies for a living he he, newborn baby photographer, nd one advice i can give is some very very stretchy 4 way knit and use that, any baby in my stuidios\ eve the ones that :\donot like o be swaddles they cant resist

  19. I loved using the swaddle, but my kids only liked it for a short while. Great when babies are little so they don’t thrash their arms around and wake themselves up.

  20. My baby refused to be swaddled even in the hospital. At 7 months she is still super stubborn when she sleeps. Some of my mom friends swear by some of these swaddles. This is a great resource for new moms.

  21. Aaw! All about swaddles. You got such a must-have swaddling collection for a cute bouncy baby boy. Bu I actually hope that it’s easy to swaddle him since when my brother was little, i was hell-on-earth just getting him swaddled!
