10 SIMPLE DAILY HABITS THAT WILL CHANGE YOUR LIFE

Hello Everyone,

I hope you’re all having a great week so far, I wrote a post a year ago on how I was going to let the universe guide me and how I had no set goals for the year. I also said that I would go with the flow and see what happens, well I am here now to tell you the results. Let’s just say that after a few months of being mindful and happy, life happened and I was back to setting goals and following routines all over again. I ended up coming up with daily habits that I made sure to stick with and so far so good. To be honest, it was hard at first but with little tweaks here and there, I am able to do them now. I decided to come and share with you these 10 simple daily habits that will change your life.

What is a habit?

Simply put, a habit is something that you do all the time and regularly without knowing that your doing it sometimes. Now that we’ve taken care of that, it makes you to start thinking of what you’ve been doing without even knowing it right? No need to worry you can be able to rectify that with these simple daily habits that will change your life.

10 SIMPLE DAILY HABITS THAT WILL CHANGE YOUR LIFE

1. GET ENOUGH SLEEP

I am not even going to say much about this but the whole you need 8-10 hours of sleep is what I don’t agree with. You have to realise that everybody is different, some may need more sleep than others and that’s fine. When I say you need to get enough sleep, I mean that you need to be well rested whereby once you get up you are refreshed and you feel good. I know people who thrive on 6 hours of sleep and they function perfectly the next day without feeling groggy or burned out by the time afternoon arrives. So make sure you get enough sleep according to how much your body requires.

2. HYDRATE

Also just like getting enough sleep above, another simple daily habit that will change your life is drinking enough water. The best way to do this is to make sure to at least have a glass of water the first thing when you wake up. I am sure you’re already thinking “What about my coffee?” Yes you will have your coffee but caffeine tends to dehydrate you so getting that water in before you get your coffee on is something simple to do. I also don’t believe in drinking 8-10 glasses of water per day, so just ensure that you are well hydrated throughout the day, water improves your skin too you know.

3. PRACTICE GRATITUDE

This is literally the simplest thing you can do because you don’t need time to do it, you can do it wherever you are and at any time. Making this a daily habit will really change your life. I wrote this on how to feel happier now so do check that out too. Doing this daily will put you in tune with yourself and you also end up being mindfull at the end of it all which is good by the way, makes you be accountable for your actions. It can either be in prayer or just saying it out loud, all in all you are doing it.

4. MOVEMENT

Another simple daily habit that will change your life is movement, I am not saying you go all p90x on yourself, I mean you can if you want to and if you’ve been doing it but just any type of exercise is great to do daily, be it walking, yoga, stretching, dancing, so long as it makes you move it will totally improve your life and well being. My version is strapping my boy into his stroller and taking walks, works great for me.

5. READ/WRITE

You should also try and practice reading or writing daily, this can be writing in your journal or reading something you love. I kind of do both, be it writing this or reading other blogs and books I have. If you’re a blogger then you should be doing this since it does increase your productivity. So just try and do one of them daily and make it a habit because it is simple really, you can also read a whole novel which is great too.

6. DECLUTTER YOUR SPACE

Another daily habit to practice is to declutter your space, try and remove anything around you that makes your space cluttered. You know how good it feels when you have everything at it’s rightful place? For me it’s my kids toys, once I shove them somewhere and I can finally see my carpet, then I instantly feel good and relaxed. It can be putting away the laundry, rearranging your shelves or even putting away the dishes. So long as there’s nothing around you that makes you want to pull out your hair. My post on how to declutter your home will definitely be of help.

7. GO OUTSIDE

I know there somedays that staying indoors all day sounds perfect “That’s on Sundays for me” and I also know that when the weather decides to go sideways, coming out is the last thing on your mind. But if you’re able to just step out for a while and just take in the day, breathe in the fresh air and take it all in, then making this a daily habit is something to consider. If you can’t be able to do this then open a window and let the air in and just look out for a while, this might be when you’re having your morning coffee.

8. PRACTICE MEDITATION

If you’re able to do this daily, then this is very good for you. Remember that meditation doesn’t have to be an hour or 30 minutes. You can be able to do it in 5 minutes, just being able to stay still, breathe and quiet your mind does your mind and body good. It can be difficult when starting out but with practice and making it a habit, it will definitely get easier. Try and focus on a candle flame or a sound in your mind and keep doing it, within no time, you will have the hang of it. Of all the daily habits I have done, this one has brought change into my life.

9. PLAN YOUR DAY THE NIGHT BEFORE

If you’re into routines like me, then this is a habit that will change your life. Planning your day the night before makes everything so much easier and you end up not stressing about it the next day. It can be writing your schedule down or removing your outfit for the next day, prepping a meal whatever it is, try and do it the the night before and make it a habit.

10. UNPLUG AN HOUR BEFORE BEDTIME

Now this took me the longest to get used to. We all know how our phones and electronics are addictive. If you haven’t been hit on your face with your phone when laying in bed, then you’re not doing it right. Anyway try and stop using them an hour before bedtime, this helps your mind and body to just realise that okay it’s almost time to switch off, calms down the brain chatter a bit. If this is really hard for you, do what I do I put my phone far away from my bed or even in another room, somewhere I know once I am in bed I will not be able to reach it.

There you have it, 10 simple daily habits that will change your life. I hope you did enjoy reading this post and if have any other ideas to share, please do so in the comments below. 1. Hi Joan! I try to do all of these would you believe but sometimes don’t 🙁 I think the above list is a way to a happy life, and I know this but choose not to make time for them everyday, its very frustrating, fantastic post!!!!!!! well done!!!!! 🙂

    1. Thank you so much. I know it can be difficult at times since life happens and there’s just no time for some but with determination you will get through it. Wishing you all the blessings life is intended to offer you.

  2. Practicing gratitude has been a game changer for me. It has helped live in positivity and be so thankful about the small things that I would have otherwise overlooked. I’m really trying to get into meditation too. I hope to start with guided meditation till I’ve built that habit.

  3. These tips are all so doable. My only issue is setting time aside for myself. It seems like my days are full of tasks and chores and caring for others without even having time to care for myself. The only true “me time” moments I have is in the early morning. I use that hour to pray, meditate and plan for the day ahead.

    1. Me too I think I have like an hour of quiet time before everything breaks loose, then an extra hout in the evening to just plan things over.

  4. So true. I try to have some “me time”, which is usually a couple of hours on Sunday but it’s like our days are filled with so much stuff to do we can barely find the time for these. I do say prayers throughout the day in my head and definitely do hydrate. Exercise? I need to re-start that. Sigh.

  5. Getting enough sleep is very important but because of busy schedule I don’t get 8 hours sleep…
PLAN YOUR DAY THE NIGHT BEFORE yes this point is very crucial. Planning really helps in managing time👍

  8. A very well good written and very well tought post. Sometimes it’s very hard to do those thing. For me the worst one to accomplish it’s to leave my phone away when its bedtime and my favorite it’s to read. I read since i’m 6 (since the age 10 I only read in english – i’m portuguese -) and to this day it’s the only thing that can bring me some inner peace
