5 ACIDS WORTH ADDING TO YOUR SKINCARE ROUTINE

5 acids worth adding to your skincare routine

When in it comes to beauty, I am still on the search for the best products that I can continue adding to my skin care routine. Hearing the word acid itself takes me back to my experience with benzoyl peroxide which was in the panoxyl ointment I used that really messed me up. I wrote about it in my products that didn’t work for my face post here, now that my skin is back to normal, I am very cautious on what products I apply or plan to put on my face nowadays. Certain acids can be particularly helpful in the exfoliation of the skin, reducing appearance of wrinkles and also taking care of acne. These are 5 acids that are worth adding to your skin care routine.

5 ACIDS WORTH ADDING TO YOUR SKINCARE ROUTINE

GLYCOLIC ACID

This acid is an exfoliation alpha-hydroxy acid which leaves your skin having a renewed feeling. It’s also found to boost collagen which helps out when it comes to wrinkles. Since it’s an acid, you should start with a small percentage in order not to damage your skin. I have not particularly introduced this yet since I don’t have deep-set wrinkles but once those bad boys start coming up I’ll be ready for the attack.

MY TOP BEAUTY PRODUCTS

my top beauty products

Hey there,

When it comes to beauty products, I am sort of a hoarder and as much as I tell myself to stop buying new products, they still end in the cart. Luckily I have some that always remain the same. These are some of my top beauty products that I am not planning to change for a long time, as they say if it ain’t broke don’t fix it. From brushes, to moisturisers and masks.

1. MAGNITONE CLEANSING BRUSH

Before I got this brush, I had my eyes on the clarisonic and thought that it would not impress me, but after three years of using the magnitone, I have no regrets and am still excited every time I get to use it, because it does the same thing it deep cleanses my skin, removes my remaining makeup perfectly and has no faulty issues plus it saved me some money compared to the clarisonic. I change the brushes every six months and until I decide to replace it, am good with this one.

2. DICKINSONS WITCHHAZEL TONER

I started using this when I ran out of apple cider vinegar and I must say, I love it, not too harsh very refreshing and it just makes my skin feeling clean and clear and my breakouts have really reduced after sticking to this toner.

3. AVEENO MOISTURISER

This moisturiser is the it for me, I used to ignore it thinking it was just another one claiming to reduce breakouts, but it has made my skin better and will continue using it because  I am hesitant to try out another product. Even when I know I have a new product to use, I still go back to this one because it’s the only product that works for my skin finally.

4. BENTONITE CLAY MASK

It’s not only pocket friendly, but the results are amazing and for the amount you get, it will last you long. I chose this as my top beauty product because it does exactly as it says it would, your face feels like you thoroughly deep cleaned it but without the scrubbing effort and with flawless results, I am not planning on changing it anytime soon for more on my face mask review, find it here. Perfect product in my opinion.

5. IVES COLLAGEN MOISTURISER

This is my last layer when it comes to my night time routine. The first time I used it, my skin woke up feeling plump and so soft and now my husband uses it and he loves it.I wrote about this in my skincare routine here. It’s a good night cream that’s why it’s in my top beauty products.I am tempted to try out the Neutrogena water gel  because the packaging looks so cool and serene. Anyway I will continue using this and I will get the Neutrogena to try out. Will give my review after I get it.

There you go, my top beauty products as per now and I know I might end up changing them some time down the line but until then, I will stick with these. If you have any questions or you would like to tell me about your top beauty products, please do tell in the comments below. Do you have any go to products you that you stick to strictly and don’t tend to change?

PRODUCTS THAT DIDN’T WORK FOR MY SKIN

products that didn't work for my skin

My skin has never been perfect, before I found what kind of products worked for me, I went through some trial and errors which I highly regretted and asked myself why I even tried them, guess that’s what you get when your striving for perfection. I’ve had acne, allergies, breakouts and even chemical reactions due to skin products I thought would work for me. Here are products that didn’t work for my skin.

1. SHEA BUTTER

Shea butter has been all the rage when it comes to skin care and hair, and as much as I do agree with the hair part, with my skin, this product just went wrong, from all the reviews I read about how it worked for many people with flawless results, I don’t think my face got that memo because what my skin looked like after was just a disappointment, but it was just a way of my skin telling me to just forget about it. My face broke out and looked like a grease ball,  just not for me.

2. AFRICAN BLACK SOAP

This is the second product that I read reviews on and  bought it the same time with the shea butter, with hair it’s perfect but after two days, it removed my makeup and cleansed my skin but I started itching my face like crazy and then I got hives like an allergic reaction of some sort,I thought it was the apple cider vinegar I was using as a toner and decided to stop the vinegar but it just got worse, so I knew it was the black soap and after I stopped it, my skin reverted back to normal. It may have worked for other people but am not going through that again.
