CHEESE STUFFED TURKEY STEAKS

Happy new week,

So this weather isn’t really doing me any favours and I know Thanksgiving is literally a stone throw away. I never celebrated it when I was younger and even now, we don’t really do anything big. I am sure, you’ve already planned out your decorations and what to cook on that day but if you don’t really fancy having a turkey roast on the day, then these cheese stuffed turkey steaks can be an alternative for you, easy to prep pan fried and totally delicious. For this recipe you will need;

CHEESE STUFFED TURKEY STEAKS

Ingredients

  • Turkey steaks
  • Gouda cheese sliced
  • A cup of Flour
  • Salt to taste
  • Garlic powder
  • Paprika
  • Onion powder
  • Black pepper
  • 3 Eggs
  • Breadcrumbs
  • Vegetable oil for frying

METHOD

  • Flatten your turkey steaks in between cling film to make them even.
  • Then take each steak and add your Gouda cheese and wrap it up, use a cocktail stick to hold it together.
  • Once that’s done, in a bowl, take a cup of flour, a tablespoon each of garlic powder, paprika and onion powder, salt to taste and black pepper.
  • Mix it altogether and start breading the steaks.
  • In a bowl beat your eggs and set aside and breadcrumbs in a separate bowl.
  • Take your steaks, coat them in flour mixture, then in the eggs and then in the breadcrumbs.
  • Continue until all the steaks are breaded then refrigerate until your ready to pan fry them.
  • In a heated pan, pour in your vegetable oil, and let it heat up.
  • Once ready, add your steaks and make sure not to overcrowd.
  • Flip them once browned and continue at least three times.
  • Continue with the rest and beware of the melting cheese, it will splatter at some point.
  • Depending on the size of your steaks, some may take longer than the rest.
  • Place them on a kitchen towel to drain some oil and you’re done.
  • Serve and enjoy.

CHEESE STUFFED TURKEY STEAKS

Note: I used Gouda cheese but if you don’t like it then you can use your favourite cheese a good sharp cheddar works great too, just don’t use any runny cheeses or spreadable ones. Also the amount of breadcrumbs depends on the amount of meat you have.

That’s it people, delicious cheese stuffed turkey steaks. I hope I have given you an idea to try out this Thanksgiving or any other day really. If you’re not for turkey then I have a good chicken and lamb roast recipe you could also try out, better yet a spatchcock chicken in a yoghurt marinade. If you have any questions, feel free to ask in the comments below and until next time see yah. What’s your favourite Thanksgiving meal or dish?
