OVEN-BAKED DRY RUBBED BBQ PORK RIBS

OVEN-BAKED DRY RUBBED BBQ PORK RIBS

Hey there,

Another week calls for another post and this one you will love, it’s a recipe to die for. This past weekend, I woke up craving pork and better yet it had to be ribs. The fact the weather decided to just go crazy with the wind and rain didn’t really help to brighten my day but I knew that good food would totally do the trick and so ribs it was with a side of coleslaw. After finishing my grocery shopping, I finally came back home and was ready to start the dry rub for my ribs, so before I bore you with my weekend shenanigans, I will just go ahead and share with you my oven-baked dry rubbed  bbq pork ribs. You will need;

For the dry rub

  • 1/2 a cup brown sugar
  • A teaspoon salt
  • A tablespoon mustard powder
  • Another tablespoon mixed herbs
  • 2 tablespoons paprika (Smoked or sweet your choice)
  • 1 tablespoon garlic granules
  • A tablespoon Onion granules
  • A tablespoon chilli powder(Optional)
Note: This makes a good amount of rub, depending on the amount of ribs you have , you can tailor this to be more or less, I had 1.5 kg of ribs. All you have to do for the above ingredients is mix them altogether and you have your rub, simple.

METHOD

  • Take your ribs and trim off any excess fat, then place them in a baking dish or you could use the disposable foil baking dish.
  • Preheat your oven to 130°C/266°F
  • Then take your rub mixture and rub it on the pork ribs one by one ensuring that you coat every piece of meat.
  • Once you have finished rubbing each and every rib, place them in your baking tray and cover it up with aluminium foil and into the oven it goes.
  • Don’t bother yourself for 3 hours, yes I know it’s long but gives you more time to prep your coleslaw or just lounge and grab a drink in the mean time.
  • After 2 and 1/2 hours, remove them from the oven, take your favourite barbecue sauce and be ready to slather them.
  • Slather each rib with the sauce using a spoon or brush then put them back in the oven but this time don’t cover them.
  • Let them continue cooking for the last 30 minutes brushing them frequently with the sauce.
  • Once time is up remove from the oven and be ready to indulge.
  • Serve and enjoy.
