HOW TO GET NOTICED AS A BLOGGER

Hello Everyone

When I started blogging, which is not that long ago, I had to learn a lot of things really fast and correct my mistakes along the way. I still don’t know everything about blogging but I like getting to figure out stuff and learning even much more from other bloggers. Once you get into this blogging world, you realise real quick that you are not the only one and that some have been doing this gig for quite some time which may make you feel discouraged and wonder how you can also get out there and join other bloggers at the top. This is how to get noticed as a blogger.

HOW TO GET NOTICED AS A BLOGGER

1.CONSISTENCY

We’ve all had about this consistency, and yes people it is key. If you want people to know who you are and continue coming back to your content, then you need to have a plan on how you will be consistent in your writing and keep at it. I am not saying write a post everyday, I tried that and ended up just making everything even harder for myself. So I would suggest you create a schedule and have certain days for writing, planning and publishing. The more consistent you are the better for your readers to come back.

2.BE GENUINE

I have read many people talking about uniqueness, I kinda disagree with that to a certain point because you just want to be noticed first as a blogger, so I would remove being unique and just say be YOU, be genuine and personal. Don’t try to be how another blogger is stop comparing yourself to others and just be you and it will show right through your content and that’s the only way you will start progressing.

3.KNOW YOUR NICHE

Have a topic you are writing about and stick to it. The best part about blogging is that there is no specific thing that you have to write about to become a good blogger. You can write about anything so long as you can show other people that you know what you are talking about and continue doing that. Here are answers you need to find your niche and once you know what it is, everything becomes easier and because you love what you’re doing, other people will notice that and want to come back and read more of your content.

4.PROMOTE,PROMOTE,PROMOTE

Everybody knows the internet is king and using it to be noticed is a good idea. The only thing I would say is choose a particular platform that you will be using to promote your blog focusing on mostly where most of your views generate from, if you are all over the place, it’s going to be a little bit overwhelming and so sticking to a couple of platforms that you are more active on is a good idea be it Instagram, Facebook, Pinterest, all these are good platforms you just have to choose where your blog does well  and be good at it, hence getting your name and blog out there.

5.READ AND COMMENT

Start interacting with other bloggers by reading their blogs and being able to comment genuinely, the best way to do this is looking for blogs within your niche and have a read, see what others have to offer and if you like someone’s post, do comment and tell the writer what you thought about it. Don’t just race through a blog post and comment “great post” like seriously, it’s not a like for like, find posts that you really connect with and give them your honest feedback, I am sure you would also want the same. That way once you start talking to other bloggers through their blogs, your name gets out there and so does your blog.

Lastly, I hope that these points will help you and remember that learning is a continuous process, I know there are many more ways but these are the ones I have for you now. If you have any more tips that have helped you in your blogging journey, feel free to share in the comments below.

  1. Very useful. I too have just started blogging, I think I have overwhelmed myself by trying to promote on too many different platforms too quickly, and it’s now hard to keep track. I’m not used to it yet. Your advice will be used, I will concentrate on less platforms and master them first.
    Thanks

    1. You’re welcome I also did that at the beginning and now I just focus mostly on Facebook and Pinterest according to where I get most of my views and it has really helped. Thank you for stopping by.

  2. Wonderful insight and tips that you have given us here. My main problem is staying consistent and creating a schedule. Now that school is ending, I have more time to dedicate to my blog, and get it to where I want it to be.

    1. Don’t worry you got this, a bit of planning and you will be back at it just create a comfortable schedule for yourself and keep at it.

  3. Being genuine is indeed the most important part. Better have 100 loyal followers who know you and trust you because they can relate to you rather 1000 followers who dont know who you really are.

    1. Very true. Thank you, I rather someone not read my post if it’s not for you other than just commenting randomly without understanding the post.

  4. It can be a wild jungle blogging where no one knows you and it makes sence to get out there socialize with other bloggers and get your name out there for people to know you.
Well written and very informative, thanks for sharing

  5. This is exactly what I’m struggling with at the moment. I find it hard to be consistent when I feel like there’s no one reading, and promotion is my Achilles heel. I’ve just got to keep working at it, but it’s so hard not to get disheartened sometimes!

    1. That’s the downside of blogging, we just have to keep at it and hope that even one person will read our content. Even now I still don’t get as much views as other bloggers but I just continue writing and know that it will pay off at the end. We can do this.

  6. Great tips! I just started out, I’ve been blowing for 3 weeks now and I’m loving it! I need to figure out how to promote on pinterest! I’ve got the other platforms covered. Thanks 🙂

I would love if you checked out my fashion/beauty/lifestyle blog and let me know your thoughts

  7. This is great Joan! My blog turns 1 month old tomorrow so I’m new as well! It’s so helpful for me to read tips and techniques from other bloggers as I try to find my footing in this wonderful world of blogging!

    1. Congratulations to you and your blog you will find that it will get easy as you go and you get to learn something new everyday as I am still learning too.

  8. These are awesome tips. Always great to start a blogging venture off on the right foot and these will certainly help accomplish that.

  9. Definitely something that I’m struggling with and I feel like it’s so difficult figuring out priorities when I’m also trying to find a job 🙁 any tips?

    1. What I would suggest is you choose one that you want to focus on first, if it’s finding a job do that first and make blogging be part time because if you decide to do both, it’s really going to be difficult and you will end up burnt out and frustrated.

  10. I am so inspired by your post. I am trying not to give up but it gets difficult. Thank you for the pointers. I am trying very hard every day!!

  11. Being consistency is the key to keeping your readers coming back more and more again. Good post. Thanks for sharing

  12. Very relatable tips….I feel like all the points are important but since you don’t get noticed by just doing them within a year, consistency is most important. Keep writing and don’t get discouraged if you aren’t getting the feedback you expect

  13. Hi Joan,

Great tips and I totally agree with you about commenting on other blogs. Since I’ve started taking the time to read and comment, I’ve built up some great blogging relationships.

I’ve also managed to land 9 guest blogging opportunities. I know that I never would’ve been able to guest post that much without taking the time to comment on other blogs.

Now I make it a point to comment on other people’s blogs on a regular basis. Not just for traffic but like you said to help me get noticed and make friendships.

Thanks for sharing these tips, have a great day 🙂

    Susan

  14. Good tips thanks. I am still trying to find my niche while also trying to learn Pinterest along the way….But the one thing I certainly do have control of is consistency so will keep it up.

    1. Consistency is key, it’s the only way your readers will come back and want more from you, don’t worry it does get easier and we do learn along the way. Happy blogging.

  15. Thank you for your tips. I just started blogging. And never thought about the read and comment, I will definitely start using that tip. Good luck!

  16. Thank you for the wonderful tips! Since I am a newbie to the blogging and having done so much research here and there about blogging. I have heard a lot of these tips. But I think its AWESOME how you put them important steps all in one pretty little place on your blog 🙂

  17. Hi Joan, thank you for the great tips. I just started blogging end of July, and I’ve been trying to figure things out myself. And I’m starting to get frustrated, not a great writer but I am trying. I just need to narrow my niche and the promotion part, what or how to use these platforms. Thank you so much for sharing, this will definitely help me. Happy Blogging! 🙂

    1. You’re welcome, blogging is hard work and once you narrow down your niche, it get’s easier and things start coming into place, take it one step at a time and don’t stress about it.

  18. They are all really useful tips for those who just started their blog. We spend a lost of time promoting and commenting other blogs and it really works. It took us longer to decide what niche we wanted before finally knowing

    1. Thank you, blogging is hard work but once you know what you’re doing and really get into it, everything get’s easier and reading other blogs does help.

  19. I try to be consistent and I am certainly genuine, but I can’t seem to find where my niche hides out.

  20. Great post! I’ve been blogging for several years now and this is really good advice. The only other thing I can think of to include is that it is a marathon not a sprint. I see so many bloggers work so hard so fast when they compare themselves to bigger, more established blogs that they end up burning out and throw in the towel when they don’t instantly see the same results. Be patient and take care of yourself first and it will come! Wishing you all the best!

  21. Yes, this is all so true! I always try to comment on other people’s work as well–I think it’s so important. And promoting. Yes, I do that a lot!

  22. These are really great tips. It is easy to work on content but the hard part is getting it all noticed.

  23. Giveaways work well sometimes too, especially during the holidays. Everyone likes to get a little something by chance every now and again. 🙂

  24. Great insight in to how to get noticed – and by giving, it’s amazing how much we can get back! Love that you call out the need to read/support other bloggers!

  25. It’s funny to think when I started 4 years ago I knew nothing about blogging but slowly and surely I learnt the very lessons you’ve listed above. Consistency and supporting fellow bloggers is very important

  26. These are great tips. The promoting is what is so draining! It takes almost as long to promote a post as it does to write it. I guess that’s why a lot of people get assistants.

  27. I agree with these important tips. There are so many bloggers but it’s not impossible to be noticed. Continue to be genuine.

  28. I have been blogging for almost 6 years and I feel like I have so much to learn. I jumped in just for the reviews with little help and knowledge on what I am doing. Now that I do, I feel like it’s easier to start over.

    1. It doesn’t matter how long you’ve been at it do long as you know what to do from now, then that’s all that matters, starting over ain’t that bad if done the right way. Happy blogging.

  29. Connection with other people is really what you are trying to do. You want to develop an audience who loves reading what you write and wants to respond to what you write.

  30. These are some great tips! I’m just starting my blog and being consistent is challenging but I def plan to make a schedule to keep myself accountable.

  31. I think these are really great tips. I love the part about being genuine, because I feel like its one of the first things you notice.

    1. yes it reaches a point where if your readers know how you sound in your posts then all of a sudden it changes, that’s where readers notice something fishy, being yourself is the best thing.

    1. I know right? Before I started I was like it’s not that bad but afterwards and now I’m like I never thought I had to do all of this but it’s all good, fun and I’m loving it.

  32. These are all great tips for any blogger to get noticed. It is so important to get the right niche that fits you and to be consistent in your postings as well as participating with your readers. The more unique you are the more people you will attract I believe. Thanks for sharing the tips.

  33. CONSISTENCY does it, and again focusing/promoting your post on a particular social media platform that you get more traffic from reduce the stress.
    been controversial sometimes does it….smile.
    great tips

  34. As a brand new blogger, this is confimation that I’m going in the right direction 🙂

  35. I’ve been working on the “read & comment” bit recently – it’s hard, especially since I don’t want to leave generic “great post!” comments that provide no value.

  36. Hi I’m new to blogging. I will definitely use some of your tips. Promoting on social media is really hard for me but since its one way to get noticed I will have to do it. I agree with you that being true to yourself in your writing is better than following some formula of a big blogger. Your voice is unique to you so you should use it to your advantage.

    1. So far facebook has been my go to but instagram is also great if you have a huge following. Plus don’t forget to join groups in Pinterest and tailwind tribes which are a massive help too.

  37. Another tip is to join a blog tribe or create one of your own so you can work together as a group when it comes to information sharing and learning. It’s very important the the tribe relationship is completely reciprocal – that all members have something to offer the group.

  38. Having a relatively new blog, your post really gave me some great tips. Love the way you’ve written it in such simplified manner. Will follow your ideas, thanks!

  39. I am still trying to assess where most of my views generate from so I can focus my promotion efforts there. I get a lot of views from Instagram and Pinterest but I do not know if readers are going from these sites to my blog. I am also trying to respond to the comments of others. Thanks for sharing these valid observations.

  40. These are really great points. I wish I was more consistent posting in the past couple months, but it is definitely something I am going to work on this year. It seems so important for building a fan base

  41. Being consistent is really the key. Also, being able to interact and engage with your readers is a must to be able to get into your readers.

  42. These are some great tips – when I started in 2010 the blogging world was such a different place to where it is now. I need to work on my niche still as I’m a bit of everything really.

  43. You shared some great tips here. I agree that being genuine is the key. Readers will recognize that and it is easier to be consistent if you’re being you and not always trying to copy someone else.

  44. You share some really good tips! Self-promotion is such an important one, as is networking, connecting with and supporting other bloggers.

  45. Self-promotion is an important one, as is networking and supporting other bloggers. Great tips for getting your name out there!

  46. Being genuine is sometimes still difficult for many bloggers. Recently new breed bloggers only blogs about events and brands they’ve collaborated and you rarely read their genuine opinions, in the fear that their opinions would shrugged off their readers. Their contents became too commercialized and curated it loses its true self.

  47. This is really good advice. I completely agree. I’ve been blogging for over a year and to be honest, I’m thinking of shutting down my blog. I just can’t do it anymore. I run a mental health blog and I’m tired of talking about MH constantly and putting so much work into something that, idk, doesn’t seem worth it. Any advice on that?

    1. I think because you are writing only about one topic, it’s wearing you out. Not that it can’t be done but you can see that it makes you get frustrated and tired about repeating the same thing on the same topic. I would suggest you expand your niche a bit and try to write stuff related to the topic you’re used to writing without being totally off topic or have a series where you allow yourself to write something different once or twice a week to relief you from mental health. I hope that makes sense, good luck and don’t give up.

  48. Those are certainly the best ways to get noticed a blogger in the long run. The hard part is finding the people who are in your niche and will stick with you. And sometimes as a dad blog it’s hard for me to know how much I stick to dad blogs versus parenting blogs. Always interesting though.

  49. Thank you for this as I am new to blogging and struggling with what platform to “share” my blog on. I’m trying to share it on everything while maintaining my “day job” and it is overwhelming!!! Your advice is very helpful!!

    1. Thank you very much, happy to help.It gets difficult if you do all of it at once, just choose a few platforms you can manage and work on those and don’t stress too much.

  50. Networking is a tough one. Joining the blogging groups on FB doesn’t really help, they’re only about sharing likes and looks and getting traffic that’s not real. This is an area I’m going to have to work on as well as consistency. Thanks for the post!

  51. Nnnniiiiicccccceeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee Joan! I love this….most especially, tip 2, where you got to read other peoples’ pieces. I’m working on that all the time and promoting my content, as well. Thank you for sharing.

  52. This is sooooooo helpful. I started a few months ago and blogging is not even my culture so it has been really challenging navigating this new space. I agree with what you said about platforms… indeed it is overwhelming especially since I don’t know how to use them. I am still trying to figure out twitter, pinterest and Instagram… great useful post…thanks..

  53. Great tips here, thank you for sharing! I love that you support your community by reading the work of others and commenting. It’s the easiest way to help another blogger out! 🙂

  54. This is great tip Joan! I heard being blogger is so tough industry to get noticed by company and increase followers and so competitive.

  55. Great points and advise you have there. I agree to all of them and working hard to connect with sincere bloggers and hope to build our website together.

  56. What you say about picking one or two platforms and sticking with them is bang on. When i started blogging i was overwhelmed — until I decided to focus on FB and Instagram. I’m slowly adding Pinterest to the mix but tackling one at a time has really helped.

  57. I’ve been blogging for a few years but I’ve only started doing it as a job. These are great tips for people who are getting started in the blogging world 🙂

  58. Once you find your niche, show consistency, be genuine and promote! I’ll agree with that! And also, I think commenting on other blogs has really made me get noticed. And I love it.

  59. Being genuine and good promotion are vital to be noticed. I agreed with your point that stick to the platforms that generate traffic because there’re so many platforms to share and interact, I myself overwhelmed few days ago. Now, I decided to stick with Pinterest, Facebook and after that if possible twitter.

  60. I would also add network with other bloggers and go to different events. This is what made a huge difference for me. Not only that it’s inspiring to write better content, but it also makes you noticed by PRs and brands who also attend these events.

  61. All great advice! I’m wrapping on my 2nd month of blogging, and hoping all the promotion pays off! Sometimes it’s hard to put yourself out there- but you have to to see results!

  62. Great tips, I knew that consistency was important but when I started it was really hard at times to keep it up. I thought I was promoting when I started but o wasn’t promoting the right way. Getting much better at it now .

  63. I am new to blogging and promoting my blog in social media. I need to organize my time better to write more and get active on Pinterest. One day at a time I guess.

  64. I think consistency in blogging and posting will really get you noticed as a blogger. readers love to read regularly especially their favorites.

  65. Yes consistency is most important in blogging along with social promotion, Nowadays people has lot choice, so you want to be stand out you need to promote your blog very well. Thanks for sharing the tips.

  66. This is such a great topic, and one I find myself coming back to over and over again. It’s hard seeing traffic ebb and flow on a daily basis. I agree with all your points, and I will say that promotion and consistency are key for me!

  67. Consistency and promoting my blog are two things I struggle with up until now. I work full time and have to take of my family, so it is definitely challenging.

  68. I also believe in being genuine and consistent. But somehow, I get lazy when it comes to promoting. I think I should get more active and engage with people on a daily basis.

  69. HOW about having some lovely chat with you.. i love the write i have learnt something new today from my kenya friend.. it will be nice to hang out with you.
